Rocky Linux stays Rocky. We do not convert it to Alma for sport.
Same family as AlmaLinux, a different project. dnf, firewalld, SELinux, and the panel already installed on it. Rocky 8 and 9.
The panel or the image already chose it
A working DirectAdmin or cPanel on Rocky 8 or 9 does not need an OS swap. We update it, fix firewalld, and read SELinux denials. A conversion mid-life is how a vhost breaks.
The panel opened the port. firewalld did not. Or SELinux denied a path after a restore. We fix the denial. Turning SELinux off is the last resort, written down if we do it.
Rocky 9 for a new install the panel supports. Rocky 8 is repaired. An in-place major upgrade waits on a snapshot and on the panel’s own support matrix.
Packages match. The project and the upgrade path do not.
We will not migrate a healthy Rocky server onto AlmaLinux because a guide preferred the other name. CentOS 7 still gets copied off, onto Rocky 9 or AlmaLinux 9, whichever the panel license already expects.
€55 an hour. A new Rocky server with a panel is quoted.
Minimum 1 hour. The panel license is yours and is not in the price. HestiaCP is not installed on Rocky. That stack belongs on Debian or Ubuntu.
Rocky under a panel, or a CentOS 7 to copy off?
Tell us the version and the panel. No root password in the first message.
