Managed VPS Without Leaving Your Provider

An unmanaged VPS is inexpensive because the provider stops at the virtual machine. Packages, the firewall, PHP, the database, mail, certificates and backups are not included. That is a fair trade if you want the work. It is an expensive trade if a forgotten update or an untested backup is what takes the site down.

Managed VPS is administration of that layer without a change of provider. The server stays in your Hetzner, OVHcloud, Netcup, Contabo, IONOS, Scaleway, DigitalOcean, Vultr or other account. Invoices stay with you. Root access stays with you, and access granted for administration can be revoked when the engagement ends.

What is included

  • OS updates on Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky
  • SSH hardening and firewall
  • NGINX or Apache, PHP-FPM, MySQL or MariaDB, Redis, SSL
  • A control panel if you already use one
  • Service, disk and load checks, backup status, monitoring
  • Routine changes such as a new site, a PHP version or a config adjustment, within the included hours

It is aimed at site owners and agencies running WordPress or a small web stack on an unmanaged VPS. It is not theme or plugin development, and it is not a hardware contract with the data centre. Guaranteed round-the-clock emergency cover is a separate arrangement.

Why the account should stay yours

The practical test before you buy a managed product from a host is simple: who owns the account if you leave, and can you keep the same IP and data? Here the account never moves, so that question does not come up. The Essential plan starts at €79 per month per server. Details are on the pricing page.
