Hestia and DirectAdmin ship MariaDB with defaults for a small site.
Several accounts, WooCommerce, or a buffer pool still at the package default. We size InnoDB to this VPS and name the query. We do not paste a 32 GB template onto a 4 GB machine.
Buffer pool, temporary tables, a log that was never enabled
Often 128 MB on a server with several sites. Raised only as far as RAM minus PHP-FPM. A panel rebuild must not reset the file we edited. We put it where Hestia or DirectAdmin keeps custom config.
Enabled for a window. The statement is usually a WordPress meta query or a missing index on a known table. Autoload bloat is the WordPress database page, not a server variable.
A slow query on a full disk is not tuning. Space is freed first. Binary logs that were never purged are a common fill.
MariaDB stopped is the support page
Tuning starts when it accepts connections. A major upgrade is a migration with a dump, not a performance change.
€55 an hour. Defaults that already fit are left alone.
Minimum 1 hour. If the buffer pool is sized and the slow log is quiet, that is the result. No template is applied to look busy.
MariaDB on Hestia or DirectAdmin, and the sites wait on it?
Tell us the panel and the RAM. No database password in the first message.
