Independent Linux administration for Vultr Cloud Compute and Bare Metal servers.
Server setup, Linux configuration, web servers, hosting control panels, databases, email, security, backups, performance, recovery and migrations — for infrastructure running on Vultr.
Your server. Your provider. Our Linux expertise.
Flexible infrastructure, still needs a Linux administrator
Vultr provides flexible cloud and dedicated infrastructure, while the Linux OS and everything running inside still needs technical administration — updates, SSH, firewall, NGINX/Apache, PHP-FPM, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, email, DNS, SSL, control panels, WordPress, backups. DirektSupport provides that layer without requiring you to transfer your Vultr account — you keep ownership and control.
Cloud Compute, Optimized Cloud Compute or Bare Metal
Business websites, WordPress, smaller hosting environments, development — flexible virtual machines for moderate workloads.
For more predictable or specialised resources — database-intensive apps, larger WordPress, dedicated CPU needs.
Dedicated physical hardware, no virtualisation layer — high sustained CPU, large databases, business-critical services.
New server? We prepare it for production — hostname, SSH, Vultr Firewall + Linux firewall, hardening, web/DB stack, SSL, DNS, control panel, backups — around the actual workload.
HestiaCP, DirectAdmin or cPanel & WHM
Manage multiple websites, databases and email accounts on your own Vultr infrastructure.
Installation, CustomBuild — useful for managing several sites and domains from one interface.
Server prep, installation, WHM configuration — OS requirements, licensing and resources reviewed first.
The tools unique to Vultr’s platform
Network-level firewall groups assignable to Cloud Compute instances. We layer these with UFW, iptables, nftables and Fail2Ban — an incorrect Firewall Group rule can make a perfectly healthy server look offline, so we check both layers when access fails.
The Vultr Console gives access when SSH is broken. For deeper recovery, Vultr supports custom ISO images that can boot a SystemRescue environment — accessing the installed OS from outside the normal boot process to inspect the filesystem, repair configuration or use chroot.
On-demand snapshots for supported virtual Compute instances — a convenient recovery point before risky changes. For production systems, snapshots should complement rather than replace an independent backup strategy.
Reserved IPs stay independent of any one instance, useful when replacing servers or building failover. VPC private networking lets multiple servers communicate without exposing traffic publicly — common for separating web and database servers.
No hypervisor snapshot safety net
Vultr Bare Metal doesn’t provide the hypervisor-level snapshot functionality available to virtual Cloud Compute instances — which makes an independent backup strategy especially important for Bare Metal.
What 100% disk usage breaks
A full filesystem can cause SSH login failures, stopped databases, website errors, failed email delivery, broken logging and services that refuse to restart. We investigate large log files, database growth, email storage, WordPress uploads, cached and temporary files, outdated backups and inode exhaustion — using a rescue environment when normal access is no longer possible.
More control than shared hosting
WooCommerce especially creates far more PHP, database and background activity — we check PHP-FPM workers, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, RAM and cron activity before increasing resources.
Coming from another provider? We handle websites, WordPress, databases, email, DNS, SSL, control panels and configuration.
Independence works both ways — if it no longer fits, we help move elsewhere. If it’s working well, keeping and optimising it may be the better call.
Linux/application issue, or infrastructure issue?
Careful investigation, not just deleting files
We review suspicious processes, SSH and admin access, malicious cron jobs, WordPress files and malware, firewall configuration and logs. For serious compromises, rebuilding from a known-clean OS is sometimes safer than continuing to trust an environment that can no longer be verified.
One-time help or ongoing management
No monthly contract needed — troubleshooting, firewall configuration, snapshots, Block Storage, recovery, migration planning. Priority and Emergency Support available for urgent situations.
Monitoring, Linux maintenance, security updates, health checks, backup checks, priority email and phone support.
Planning new Vultr infrastructure?
We evaluate Cloud Compute vs Optimized vs Bare Metal, CPU/RAM/storage, Block Storage, location, distribution, control panel, firewall and backup strategy before you deploy — independent of Vultr, so there’s no reason to recommend Bare Metal when a smaller instance is enough.
More than 22 years of practical experience with Linux servers, hosting infrastructure, websites, databases, email systems, backups and production environments — across multiple providers, not tied to one vendor.
