Independent Linux administration for IONOS VPS, Cloud Servers and Dedicated Servers.
Server setup, Linux configuration, hosting control panels, web servers, databases, email, security, backups, troubleshooting, performance and migrations — for infrastructure running on IONOS.
Your server. Your provider. Our Linux expertise.
Cloud Panel manages the infrastructure — we manage Linux
IONOS provides VPS, Cloud Server and Dedicated Server infrastructure along with management tools through its Cloud Panel — documented as separate product areas within its Server & Cloud platform. Customers still need someone to configure and maintain the operating system and everything running on top of it: Linux, updates, SSH, firewall, NGINX/Apache, PHP-FPM, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, email, DNS, SSL, control panels, WordPress, backups. That’s the layer DirektSupport provides — without requiring you to transfer your IONOS account.
VPS, Cloud Server or Dedicated
Websites, WordPress, development environments, databases and business applications — single fix or ongoing management.
Managed through the Cloud Panel — firewall policies, KVM console, monitoring and backup integration combined with normal Linux administration.
For substantial CPU, RAM, storage or predictable hardware — WordPress, WooCommerce, multi-site, databases, business email.
New server? We prepare it for production — hostname, SSH, firewall, hardening, web/DB stack, SSL, DNS, control panel, backups — around the actual workload.
HestiaCP, DirectAdmin or cPanel & WHM
Manage several websites, databases and email accounts from one Linux server.
Installation, CustomBuild — suited to servers hosting multiple domains and customer sites.
Server prep, installation, WHM configuration — resources, OS compatibility and licensing reviewed first.
The tools unique to IONOS’s platform
Cloud and Dedicated Servers use an external hardware firewall configured through Cloud Panel policies — traffic not explicitly permitted is blocked before it reaches the server. IONOS itself lists checking the firewall policy as one of the first troubleshooting steps when a server can’t be reached. We combine these policies with UFW, iptables, nftables and Fail2Ban.
A browser-based console for Cloud Servers that works even when SSH is unreachable — direct interaction with the virtual server, including viewing boot messages and fixing certain network or startup problems. We use it when SSH is down, firewall rules are wrong, or the server has startup issues.
Available on Dedicated Servers for when the installed OS can’t be accessed — a recovery environment for inspecting logs, repairing configuration and filesystems, and recovering from network or boot problems.
IONOS documents checking and rebuilding both software and hardware RAID, including procedures after drive replacement. We help check RAID status, identify degraded arrays, monitor rebuilds and prepare replacement disks — protecting valuable data before any destructive storage operation.
Read the fine print before you rely on a snapshot
Cloud Servers currently support one snapshot per server, automatically deleted after three days. IONOS itself warns that creating a snapshot while the server is running can result in data loss. Useful before an upgrade or config change — never a substitute for a real backup.
Agent-based backup plans that can protect a complete server, individual files/folders, or volumes. We help configure the backup agent, review the plan, and add independent offsite backups on top — worth thinking about what happens if you lose access to the primary server or provider account entirely.
More control than shared WordPress hosting
WooCommerce especially generates far more PHP and database activity — we look at PHP-FPM workers, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, RAM, CPU and scheduled tasks before increasing infrastructure.
Coming from another provider? We handle websites, WordPress, databases, email, DNS, SSL, control panels and configuration.
Independence works both ways — if it no longer fits, we help move elsewhere. If it’s working well, keeping and optimising it may be the better call.
Linux/application issue, or infrastructure issue?
A server that appears offline is often a firewall or networking problem — we check SSH connectivity, traceroute/MTR, port accessibility and IONOS firewall policies alongside the Linux firewall, especially right after a networking change.
Careful investigation before cleaning or rebuilding
We review suspicious processes, SSH and admin access, malicious cron jobs, WordPress files and malware, firewall configuration and logs. For serious compromises, rebuilding from a clean OS is sometimes more appropriate than continuing to trust an environment that can no longer be verified.
One-time help or ongoing management
No monthly contract needed — troubleshooting, control panel work, backup setup, server recovery, migration planning. Priority and Emergency Support available for urgent situations.
Monitoring, Linux maintenance, security updates, health checks, backup checks, priority email and phone support.
Planning new IONOS infrastructure?
We evaluate VPS vs Cloud Server vs Dedicated, CPU/RAM/storage, RAID, location, OS, control panel, web stack and backup strategy before you order — independent of IONOS, so there’s no reason to recommend more than you need.
More than 22 years of practical experience with Linux servers, hosting infrastructure, websites, databases, email systems, backups and production environments — across multiple providers, not tied to one vendor.
