Hetzner gives you root — we handle what runs on it
On Hetzner’s bare-metal and root infrastructure, customers get full root access and are responsible for system updates, configuration and software — Hetzner primarily provides hardware and network support. That’s exactly where DirektSupport fits: we provide the Linux administration layer while you keep your direct relationship with Hetzner.
No requirement to transfer the server or purchase infrastructure through us.
Cloud, dedicated or root server
From individual WordPress sites to larger web infrastructure. We work with Primary IPs, private networks, Firewalls, Volumes, Load Balancers, Backups and Snapshots.
For predictable resources, large storage or significantly more CPU/RAM than a typical VPS — WordPress, WooCommerce, multi-site, email or database hosting.
Considerable control comes with responsibility for everything running on it — installation, packages, security, web/DB stack, backups.
New server? We prepare it for production — hostname, SSH, firewall, hardening, web/DB stack, SSL, DNS, control panel, backups — built around the actual workload, not a generic template.
HestiaCP, DirectAdmin or cPanel & WHM
A practical, relatively lightweight option without the licensing cost of some commercial alternatives.
Installation, CustomBuild, NGINX/Apache — suitable for multi-domain environments and agencies managing many client sites.

The tools unique to Hetzner’s platform
Dedicated servers use a stateless firewall configured at the switch port; Hetzner Cloud provides a stateful firewall for Cloud Servers with customer-defined rules. We design a layered setup combining the Hetzner Firewall with UFW, iptables, nftables and Fail2Ban as appropriate — exposing only what genuinely needs to be public.
A temporary Linux environment for when the normal OS won’t boot. On dedicated servers, it’s a Debian-based live environment booted over the network; Hetzner Cloud offers Rescue mode via the Console. We use it for boot failures, filesystem errors, broken SSH access, and recovering configs, websites or databases.
Hetzner Cloud Backups are automatic disk copies (7 slots per Cloud Server); Snapshots are manual and kept until deleted. We help enable Backups, create Snapshots before risky changes, and plan restoration — but infrastructure snapshots alone shouldn’t be your complete backup strategy.
Hetzner specifically recommends securing data with a Backup or Snapshot before potentially destructive repair operations, where possible. We follow the same principle:
Protect recoverable data before attempting risky repairs whenever the situation allows it.
What happens if the snapshot isn’t enough?
A resilient strategy considers what happens if the server is accidentally deleted, credentials are compromised, data is corrupted, a site is hacked, or a backup exists but can’t actually be restored. For important production infrastructure, we normally recommend independent off-server or offsite backups alongside Hetzner’s own tools.
